Protecting pedestrians at the end of every Armco barrier run
Every Armco barrier run ends somewhere. At that point, the cut steel rail presents a sharp, exposed edge. That edge creates a genuine risk of snagging, scraping and injury to anyone passing close by. The Armco Pedestrian Safety End addresses this directly. It fits over the exposed end of the Armco rail and covers the sharp cut edge with a smooth, pedestrian-friendly polymer profile. Safe to brush against, lean on or pass in close proximity. That is what it is designed to do.
Unlike other termination accessories in the Brandsafe Armco range, the Pedestrian Safety End is specifically designed with personnel in mind. The smooth interface with limbs and clothing makes it the preferred termination for barrier runs where pedestrian traffic is frequent. Close contact with the barrier end is a realistic possibility in these locations. This end removes that risk cleanly and effectively.
HDPE construction, UK manufactured
The Pedestrian Safety End is manufactured in the UK from polyethylene. This makes it fully recyclable and environmentally responsible. The colour-fast UV stable polymer formula ensures the finish does not fade or degrade over time. It performs in indoor and outdoor environments equally well, suiting the full range of locations where Armco barriers operate.
Each end carries two diamond grade reflectors that enhance visibility at the barrier termination point. Yellow versions carry silver diamond grade reflectors. Black versions carry yellow diamond grade reflectors. Both options provide high contrast visibility day and night, improving awareness for vehicle operators and pedestrians approaching the end of the barrier run.
Diamond grade reflectors for day and night visibility
Visibility at the end of a barrier run is as important as visibility along its length. The two diamond grade reflectors on each Pedestrian Safety End ensure the termination point remains clearly visible in low-light conditions, at night and in busy operational environments where driver awareness at barrier ends is critical. The contrasting colour between the end and the reflectors maximises this effect regardless of whether yellow or black is specified.
Installation and compatibility
The Pedestrian Safety End retrofits directly to all standard steel Armco terminals. It suits 310mm x 85mm corrugated Armco rails and stands at 338mm high to align with the standard Armco rail profile. Each end fixes using 2x M16 x 35mm galvanised bolt set to suit pre-holed Armco rail. The bolt set is not included and should be ordered separately.
Installation is quick and straightforward. The single polymer moulding fits over the rail end and bolts securely in place. No specialist tools are required. This keeps installation time to a minimum on site and allows the end to be retrofitted to existing Armco installations without disruption to operations.
Where the Armco Pedestrian Safety End is specified
The Pedestrian Safety End suits any Armco barrier installation where pedestrian traffic passes close to the end of a barrier run. Typical applications include warehouse aisles and pedestrian walkways alongside Armco barrier systems, loading bay areas where foot traffic and vehicle routes share the same space, car parks and front-of-house areas where members of the public may come into contact with barrier ends, and any location where a smooth, safe termination to an Armco run is required for personnel protection.
For barrier runs in predominantly vehicle-only zones where pedestrian contact is not the primary concern, the Armco Fishtail Safety End or Armco Safety End provide alternative termination options suited to those environments.
