Light duty edge protection for exposed workplace hazards

Sharp steel edges, header beams, low-level obstructions and exposed corner details can create avoidable risk in busy workplace routes. Personnel may strike their head, arms or limbs against these edges during normal movement around the site. Clothing can also snag on exposed steelwork, creating another practical safety concern.

EdgeWRAP provides a light duty foam edge protection system for these exposed hazards. The polyurethane foam construction helps cushion contact, while the black and yellow chevron finish makes the edge easier to identify. This gives site teams a simple way to improve visibility and reduce contact risk around sharp workplace edges.

Polyurethane foam with self-adhesive fixing

Edge protection needs to be quick to fit, easy to position and suitable for different edge profiles. EdgeWRAP is manufactured from polyurethane foam and supplied with 3 metres of self-adhesive strip. This allows each length to be fixed directly to suitable surfaces without mechanical fixings.

The adhesive strip is suitable for most clean, dry surfaces, including steel and coated wood. Because of this, EdgeWRAP can be applied to a wide range of workplace edges, provided the surface is prepared correctly before installation. This makes it useful for quick safety upgrades, maintenance tasks and hazard marking projects.

High-visibility black and yellow chevron finish

Hazard marking is most effective when people can identify the risk before contact occurs. EdgeWRAP uses a black and yellow chevron finish to make exposed edges more visible in busy work areas. This helps draw attention to beams, steelwork, corners and other sharp edges that may otherwise blend into the surrounding environment.

The product also provides a cushioning layer at the point of contact. Typically, exposed edges below 2100mm in personnel routes may require protection as part of a site risk assessment. As a result, EdgeWRAP supports both visual awareness and light duty impact cushioning.

Five shape options for different edge profiles

Workplace edges are not all the same shape. EdgeWRAP is available in 5 shape options to suit different profiles, including circular cut-out, push-fit, semi-circle, rectangle and trapeze formats. This allows the most suitable shape to be selected for the edge being protected.

Each EdgeWRAP length is supplied at 1000mm long and can be cut or mitred on site using a sharp knife or fine saw. This gives installation teams flexibility around corners, shorter edge runs and non-standard details. The result is a practical edge protection system that can be adapted during installation.

Where EdgeWRAP is specified

EdgeWRAP is specified where exposed sharp edges need to be made more visible and contact risk needs to be reduced. Typical applications include header beams, steelwork edges, warehouse walkways, maintenance areas, plant rooms, service corridors, mezzanine structures, door openings, racking-adjacent areas and back-of-house spaces.

It is especially useful where people pass close to exposed edges during normal working activity. It also suits areas where a light duty cushioning product is more appropriate than a rigid corner guard or impact barrier. In addition, EdgeWRAP can help reduce minor edge damage in lower-risk contact areas.

Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, employers must ensure, so far as reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of employees at work.
