In busy warehouse aisles, low-level impacts from order pickers and pallet trucks are common. Damage often goes unaddressed until the cost to racking, walls or adjacent infrastructure becomes significant. The Floor Rail Bumper provides a simple, effective control measure at floor level, sitting behind racking bays and along walls to absorb routine knocks before they cause structural damage. This is where the damage starts. Stopping it here keeps costs down across the whole site.
At 100mm high and 100mm wide, the bumper sits close to the floor. The low-profile design keeps operational space in the aisle clear without intruding on daily MHE movement.
The Floor Rail Bumper is manufactured from high-density polyethylene. The HDPE deflects on impact and reforms its shape, meaning the bumper continues to function after routine contact without requiring immediate replacement. Unlike metal alternatives, minimal force transfers into the floor on impact. This reduces floor damage and the maintenance costs that come with it over time. Less floor damage means less disruption to daily operations.
The material is non-toxic, fully recyclable and impervious to moisture, mould and most solvents. It performs across ambient, chilled and freezer environments. This makes it suitable for food production facilities where hygiene and material safety are additional requirements alongside physical protection. One product covers the full range of environments most sites present.
The Floor Rail Bumper is supplied in Safety Yellow as standard, providing a clear visual reference at floor level for MHE drivers operating in tight aisle conditions. Bespoke colours are available on request subject to minimum order quantities.
Standard length is 1200mm. Each bumper fixes to the floor using 3x M12 x 100mm throughbolts, with all fixings supplied. Installation is straightforward and requires no specialist equipment. Positioned at the front of non-pallet racking, the bumper provides upright protection against low-level contact from passing MHE. Placed at the rear of racking bays, it prevents pallets from being pushed too far back and making contact with walls or adjacent infrastructure. The bumpers work individually or in combination with other barriers in the Brandsafe range. That flexibility makes them a practical addition to any existing safety layout.
Under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, employers must maintain safe working environments and take reasonable steps to prevent foreseeable damage to infrastructure and equipment. Repeated low-level impacts at racking bases and walls are a known and manageable risk. Physical protection at floor level is one of the most straightforward ways to address it.
The Floor Rail Bumper provides a practical, low-cost physical control measure at the point where that risk occurs most frequently. For facilities managers and H&S managers, floor level protection across racking bays and wall boundaries demonstrates a proactive approach to infrastructure protection. It also reduces the likelihood of damage escalating into a more serious structural or safety issue. The result is fewer incidents, lower repair costs and a safer site overall.
