Corners are the most vulnerable point on any Armco barrier installation. They are where vehicle contact is most likely and where sharp exposed edges present the greatest risk to drivers, operators and pedestrians. The Armco Safety Corner addresses both risks simultaneously. It covers the corner junction with a flexible, high-visibility polymer profile that is safe on contact and clearly visible to approaching drivers. That dual function is what makes it a genuine safety upgrade to any Armco installation.
It fits to a single Armco post. This saves cost and installation time compared to alternatives requiring multiple posts at each corner. The result is a faster, cleaner installation without any compromise on corner protection.
The Armco Safety Corner uses linear low-density polyethylene. LLDPE flexes under impact. This reduces the risk of injury and vehicle damage on contact compared to rigid steel alternatives. The colour-fast UV stable formula ensures the finish does not fade indoors or outdoors. It is fully recyclable and manufactured in the UK.
Each corner carries two 40mm diamond grade reflective discs. These provide high contrast visibility for MHE operators and HGV drivers approaching the corner. Yellow versions carry silver diamond grade reflectors. Black versions carry yellow diamond grade reflectors. Both maximise visibility at the most critical point on the barrier run.
The Armco Safety Corner is available in four configurations. Internal 90 degree suits right-angle internal corners where the barrier turns inward. External 90 degree suits right-angle external corners where the barrier turns outward. Internal 135 degree suits wider-angle internal corners. External 135 degree suits wider-angle external corners. All four use the same single-post fixing method and the same components. That consistency simplifies specification and installation across complex site layouts.
Each corner fixes to a single Armco post using 1x M10 x 25mm bolt and washer, which is included. The Armco rail fixings of 2x M16 x 35mm galvanised bolt set are not included and should be ordered separately. The corner suits 310mm x 85mm corrugated Armco rails and stands at 350mm high to align with the standard Armco rail profile.
Full retrofit compatibility with all steel Armco installations means the corner fits to existing barrier systems without modification. No specialist tools are required. Installation to a single post keeps fitting time to a minimum on site.
The Safety Corner suits any Armco barrier installation where corners need to be clearly visible and safe for vehicle operators and pedestrians. Typical applications include warehouse perimeter Armco runs with directional changes, car park barrier layouts with internal and external corners, service yard installations around building projections and access points, and any industrial or commercial environment where Armco barriers navigate complex site layouts.
For straight barrier run terminations, the Armco Safety End, Fishtail Safety End and Pedestrian Safety End provide the appropriate accessories. The Safety Corner completes the installation at every directional change across the full barrier system.
Under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, employers must maintain workplace infrastructure in a condition that does not place people or vehicles at unnecessary risk. Unprotected Armco corners present a foreseeable and avoidable hazard. Fitting polymer safety corners is one of the most effective ways to address it.
The Armco Safety Corner provides a practical control measure at every directional change in an Armco installation. For facilities managers, H&S managers and specifiers, fitting appropriate corners across all Armco installations demonstrates a thorough approach to infrastructure safety. The result is a safer, more visible and more professionally finished barrier system across the full site.
