In busy warehouse and industrial environments, clearly separating MHE from pedestrian routes is one of the most fundamental workplace safety requirements. Forklifts and pallet trucks operating close to pedestrian walkways create a constant risk of collision and injury. The Guardrail System (MHE / PIT) addresses this directly. It creates a strong, highly visible physical boundary between vehicle and pedestrian zones. That boundary is what keeps people safe.

The system stands at 1100mm high, compliant with BS 6180:2011 and EN 1991-1-1 Eurocode 1. Steel posts sit at 1925mm centres and carry three horizontal rails. Two mid rails and one base rail form a solid barrier capable of withstanding the demands of high-traffic industrial areas. That structure is what makes it dependable day after day.

The guardrail uses mild steel throughout. Steel posts, rails and fixings supply as a complete kit with all required components included. This covers the Safety Plus Anchors, nylon washers, button head fixings and foam gaskets needed for a complete installation. Nothing is missing from the box.

A ShockSAFE shock absorbing pad sits beneath each post baseplate. It absorbs and cushions impact force before it reaches the floor fixings. This reduces stress on the anchors and the surrounding slab under repeated contact. Closed cell foam gaskets beneath the base rail prevent the accumulation of dirt and debris at floor level. This keeps the installation clean, reduces corrosion risk and supports hygiene during washdown procedures. It is a particularly useful feature for food distribution and clean manufacturing environments.

The standard finish is PPC RAL 1023 Yellow, the industry recognised colour for hazard awareness and visibility. Custom colours are available on request to align with site safety colour coding or corporate branding requirements.

De-Stacker extension for high-stacking zones

For operations with high-stacking requirements or overhead hazards, de-stacker extensions raise the guardrail to approximately 3000mm. This provides vertical protection in logistics centres, racking aisles and areas where goods are stored or moved at height. Standard 1100mm barriers do not reach these zones. This system does.

The de-stacker option makes the Guardrail System (MHE / PIT) one of the most versatile barrier systems in the Brandsafe range, covering the full height spectrum from standard pedestrian protection to high-level stacking zone separation in a single modular system.

Installation and configuration

The system fixes using 4x M10 x 105mm Safety Plus Anchors and 4x M16 black nylon washers per post. Rails fix using 2x M12 x 30mm button head screws, 2x M12 nylon washers and 2x M12 nuts per top and mid rail. Rail lengths are 1850mm with post centres at 1925mm as standard.

The modular design adapts to site-specific layouts including straight runs, corners and access points. Pedestrian gates integrate directly into the system to provide controlled, self-closing access points within the guardrail run.
