HGV Landing Plates

Price range: £228.00 through £455.00

HGV Landing Plates are high-visibility high-density polyethylene (HDPE) loading dock protection plates designed to protect concrete slabs from damage caused by repeated HGV trailer landing leg pressure.

  • Designed to spread trailer landing leg pressure across the plate surface, helping reduce concrete slab wear, surface damage and future repair costs.
  • High-visibility Yellow RAL 1003 HDPE construction helps drivers and operators identify landing areas during trailer positioning.
  • Available in 1000mm x 1000mm and 1000mm x 2000mm plate sizes, with 2x landing plates required per bay.

Loading dock protection for HGV trailer landing legs

Repeated HGV trailer movements place concentrated pressure on loading dock surfaces. Over time, trailer landing legs can damage concrete slabs, parking bays and trailer standing areas. This can lead to surface degradation, uneven ground and avoidable repair costs.

HGV Landing Plates provide a simple physical protection measure for these high-pressure contact points. They sit beneath the trailer landing legs and help spread the load across a wider surface area. This helps protect the dock surface at one of the highest-pressure points in the bay. As a result, the slab faces less repeated stress. The working area also stays safer and more consistent around the loading bay.

High-density polyethylene construction for exposed loading areas

Loading docks need products that can handle regular outdoor use, repeated trailer movements and constant operational demands. HGV Landing Plates use high-density polyethylene (HDPE), giving each plate the strength and surface resilience needed for busy HGV loading environments.

The plates are supplied as standard in high-visibility Yellow RAL 1003. This makes the landing area easier for drivers and operators to identify during trailer positioning. The colour also helps define the correct landing position at busy bays. Other colours are available on request, allowing the plates to suit wider site requirements where needed.

Two plate sizes for different trailer positions

Loading bays do not always serve one trailer type. Some sites use standard artic trailers, while others need a wider protected area to suit different trailer positions at the same dock location. Because of this, HGV Landing Plates are available in two standard sizes.

Plate Size 1 measures 1000mm long x 1000mm wide x 15mm deep. This option suits standard artic trailer landing leg positions. It is supplied with 12x M10x75mm countersunk floor anchors. Plate Size 2 measures 1000mm long x 2000mm wide x 15mm deep. This larger option suits bays where two trailer types may use the same dock location. It is supplied with 16x M10x75mm countersunk floor anchors.

Chamfered edges and countersunk fixing

Loading dock areas need protection that does not create new hazards for drivers, operators or site teams. Each HGV Landing Plate has chamfered edges to create a cleaner transition from the surrounding surface onto the plate. This helps reduce trip risk around the bay.

The plates fix into position using M10x75mm countersunk floor anchors. This keeps the fixing heads flush with the plate surface and helps maintain a clear working area for drivers and operators. Installation uses a simple SDS drill and fix method, making the product well suited to existing loading docks and retrofit upgrades. Because of this, site teams can upgrade worn loading areas without changing the wider dock layout.

Where HGV Landing Plates are specified

HGV Landing Plates are specified in loading dock environments where trailer landing legs repeatedly contact the same concrete surface. Typical applications include distribution centres, logistics hubs, manufacturing sites, fulfilment centres, service yards, goods-in areas, trailer parking bays and commercial loading docks.

They are especially useful where surface damage has already started to appear. They also suit sites where teams want to prevent future concrete repairs before the issue develops. In addition, they help define landing leg positions more clearly, which supports driver alignment and consistent trailer placement.

Supporting compliance and duty of care

Under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, site operators and employers must manage foreseeable risks in workplace traffic areas, loading bays and pedestrian work zones. This includes keeping floors and traffic routes in suitable condition, especially where HGVs, trailers, drivers and site teams operate in close proximity.

HGV Landing Plates provide a practical physical control measure for protecting loading dock surfaces from repeated trailer landing leg pressure. For H&S managers, facilities managers, site operators, logistics teams and contractors, specifying landing plates helps demonstrate a proactive approach to loading bay maintenance and workplace safety. The result is reduced slab damage, fewer surface defects and safer loading dock conditions across the site.
