Product Details

Dependable steel protection where impacts are most likely

In busy warehouse, logistics and commercial environments, doorways, building corners, loading bays and traffic routes face constant risk of vehicle contact. A single unprotected collision with a forklift or pallet truck can cause significant structural damage to the building fabric, surrounding infrastructure and adjacent assets. The ImpactCORE Bollard sits at these points, providing a strong, visible physical barrier between vehicles and the assets behind it.

Built around a 168mm diameter mild steel core with a heavy-duty baseplate, the bollard is engineered for long-term performance in demanding conditions. The welded cap prevents water and dirt from collecting inside the tube, protecting the steel from corrosion at the point where standing moisture would otherwise cause the most damage over time.

Construction and finish

The ImpactCORE Bollard is manufactured from mild steel with a hot dip galvanised core finish to BS EN ISO 1461 as standard, providing long-term corrosion resistance across the full height of the bollard. A powder coated finish is also available, with RAL 1023 yellow and RAL 9005 black as the standard colour combination. Alternative RAL colours are available on request to suit site branding or specific safety colour requirements. A galvanised finish is available on request for external or high moisture environments where powder coating alone may not be sufficient.

Three height options are available: 900mm, 1200mm and 1500mm. The correct height for a given application depends on the vehicle types operating on site and the assets being protected. The 900mm option suits environments where low-level protection is the priority. The 1200mm and 1500mm options provide greater visibility and coverage for higher-risk locations or sites with larger vehicles.

Where the ImpactCORE Bollard is specified

The bollard is used individually or in pairs to create clear physical boundaries at high-risk locations across warehouses, distribution centres, car parks, loading bays and industrial facilities. Typical applications include segregating vehicle and pedestrian routes, shielding door frames and roller shutters, protecting racking ends and building columns, and defining parking or loading zones where vehicle encroachment would cause damage or create a safety risk.

The high-visibility powder coated finish ensures the bollard is clearly visible to vehicle operators, providing a visual deterrent before contact occurs and reducing the likelihood of accidental impact at known risk points.

Installation

The ImpactCORE Bollard is a bolt-down surface mounted system. Each bollard is supplied with four M12 x 120mm Safety Plus floor anchors. Fixing holes are Ø22mm with four per baseplate. Floor preparation requires a Ø18mm drill hole with a minimum embedment of 80mm and a drill depth of 105mm. The baseplate measures 298mm x 242mm and provides a stable, secure anchor point on concrete substrates.

Supporting compliance and duty of care

Under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, employers are required to keep traffic routes safe and take reasonable steps to protect building fabric, assets and people from foreseeable vehicle impacts. Unprotected doorways, corners and loading bay entrances are among the most consistently identified risk points in workplace transport assessments.

The ImpactCORE Bollard provides a documented physical control measure at these locations, supporting a proactive approach to workplace transport safety. For facilities managers, H&S managers and specifiers, installing bollard protection at known impact points demonstrates compliance with the requirement to manage foreseeable risks to a practicable minimum. For sites subject to insurance reviews or third-party safety audits, having physical vehicle protection in place at high-risk locations strengthens the overall safety case for the site. The result is fewer incidents, lower repair costs and a stronger safety record across the facility.

For sites requiring a higher specification with enhanced energy absorption and PAS 13 tested performance, the ImpactSAFE Bollard is available as an upgrade option.
